Is There a Spiritual Diet? – Teal Swan

The question that’s been selected this week is what diet can I eat to live the most spiritual life I’m really excited to receive this question because diet has been an obsession not just a passion for me for seven years when we’re talking about what diet is the best for a spiritual life what you’re basically saying is what diet is the best for me health-wise because health and spirituality go hand-in-hand they’re a married partner you can’t really take one away and have the other one remain intact they’re a vibrational match health and spirituality so what you want to be doing is trying to get your diet to a point where the foods that you’re eating are in there whole and complete form where they’re physiologically natural so what you want to be doing is eliminating simple carbohydrates you want to eliminate sugar you want to eliminate dairy you want to eliminate meat and processed foods many of you may know that part of my job is to work as a medical intuitive so when I am asserting this opinion of mine it is the opinion of somebody who is watching energy in the body when I’m watching somebody eat something I can see the way that your energy either resonates or does not resonate with the specific food group and while people all people are different and so they can deal with foods differently and resonate with different foods you know one person might have an easier time digesting meat than another person in general the same way that we could speak about all pesticides being bad for a human biological system we can talk about foods in general being bad or good for a human biological system and that’s the foods that I’m listing here today so the worst foods I’m going to list them from worst to least worst our has followed the worst food you can put in your body energetically in terms of what I’m seeing our substitute sugars things like saccharin aspartame and sorbitol the human body absolutely has a reaction to those chemical compounds like nothing I’ve ever seen I sometimes at times it’s a body reacts to those worse than they would even a drug like heroin so no substitute sugars the second one that is the worst on the list for people is preservatives and pesticides that’s pretty self-explanatory alcohol is after that I tend to disagree based on what I see that even a glass of wine is good for a human system I don’t watch people’s energy I’ve never watched a person’s energy regardless of their body type agree with alcohol the second or second the next worst it would be white flour any of your super simple starches your body treats those exactly like it would be a sugar sugar is an absolute nightmare for the body but if you break a carbohydrate down to it and to the point where it’s a simple carbohydrate your body is treating it exactly the same way that it would is sugar and sugar is a poison so no white flour no sugar margarine is the next worst after that and after that it’s dairy I have never met a person who can handle dairy even when they think that they can so when we’re talking about a diet that’s in line with health and aligned with spirituality it’s very essential to eliminate dairy in general you want to eliminate animal proteins the next one after that is fried foods those are absolutely denatured foods and one after that would be meat as far as energy is concerned the best diet for a human to be on would be a raw food no animal protein diet contrary to formal belief it is possible to get your proteins and get every single compound that you need for your body on a raw food diet and if that sounds a little bit difficult to do which I have to admit really really living healthily is is a lifestyle which you have to work your way into the next-best after raw food is is the vegan lifestyle so that would be the answer to how to live in line with health and spirituality those foods that are whole that are plan based are the ones which human beings in general resonate with the best energetically and likewise their cells and their entire biological system resonate with the easiest and best that being said we can get into a lot of trouble here with people trying to get into a lifestyle of health because a lot of times the changes they make create so much of a problem for them in terms of well now I’m denying myself constantly now this is such a huge stretch for me to get into this new way of living that I’m causing more problems for myself mentally than I am making up for in physical changes this is why I say that even though I’ve outlined here what the best type of a diet is to be on its best to sort of work your way incrementally into this the way to do that is to first change the thoughts that you’re thinking the reason is this when you change the thought you’re thinking change your focus and go on this spiritual path you will find that your physiology will resonate at a different level that instantly means that the more and more spiritual you get certain foods will resonate or not resonate with you this is the real reason why in a lot of spiritual circles you’ll see the same kind of diets among what people would call spiritual masters it’s because they’ve ascended to the certain level where the only feeds foods which are able to resonate with where they are physiologically and mentally are these certain kinds of foods so while diet can help you in your journey to find spirituality if you are following the path of spirituality you will be naturally inspired towards these types of foods so you could play it one way or the other way or a mix of both which is my suggestion and that is the way to get yourself to a healthy spiritual diet you

7 Easy Tips to Start Living a Healthier Lifestyle Today | by Erin Elizabeth

What is up you guys welcome back to my channel and Happy New Year today’s video I thought this would be the perfect timing to just share with you seven tips to just help lead a healthier lifestyle now these are things that I try to do on a day-to-day basis and incorporate into my lifestyle to try to live just overall more healthy so yeah I figured since it’s the new year and usually this is the time of year where people you know set those goals for themselves and try to just live an all-around healthier lifestyles so let’s get right into it alright so my number one tip would be to try and shop more fresh foods what Kyle and I usually do when we go grocery shopping is we like to shop around the outside of the grocery store we try to avoid the aisles as much as possible we really try to eat just fresh healthier foods so for instance when we’re in the produce section we load up on all of our favorite fruits and vegetables and we also try to shop like what’s in season at the time so for instance in the fall time we’ll load up on apples and usually like at our grocery store they have a local selection during the seasons so you can shop locally as well as the fresh foods so that’s always great as well and then like in the summer time it’ll be berries and things like that yeah if you try to live by that rule and just stay towards the outside of the grocery stores and steer clear of like the chip file and stuff like that then that’s gonna really really help you keep like all the bad stuff out of your home and then you’re not gonna be tempted to eat it when you are at home so my next tip would be to have healthier snack alternatives now I know we all get our cravings and I’m the kind of person who craves sweets so I always want like chocolate and cookies and all of that stuff and I know a lot of people crave salty things like chips and stuff like that so what I try to do is make healthier alternatives to sweets that I would be craving so for instance like recently I made a chocolate avocado pudding instead of having chocolate so I mashed up an avocado I tossed in some cocoa powder all this good healthy stuff in there and that I can have my chocolate fix without breaking my diet and another thing that I absolutely love what I’m craving cookies I make these bomb cookie dough bites that are just totally healthy like little protein balls have the recipe on my blog if you guys are interested so any time I’m like craving a cookie or something like that I will just whip those up and they’re super easy and then you don’t have to feel guilty about eating it so if you’re only got a person who likes saltier foods maybe experiment with things like roasted chickpeas and then you can have that as a nice like crunchy little snack and you can season it how you like or maybe some kale chips yeah just find things that are gonna cheer your cravings yeah you’re not gonna feel guilty about eating it afterwards all right tip number three is to stop mindlessly eating now this is something I am extremely guilty of and I’ve been really trying to cut down on it because I just don’t think it’s a good thing to do and that’s just like eating like say when you’re preparing food and you’re just snacking on everything or when you’re dinner’s all ready and you’re literally eating it on your way to sit down so basically take your meal put it at the table and only eat when you’re sitting down and you’re gonna fully enjoy eating that meal otherwise yeah you’re just mindlessly eating and that’s never a good thing because you’re not aware when you’re doing it and you’re just popping things into your body so I think it’s best if you just allot the time and only eat when you’re sitting down and you’re actually able to fully enjoy it so tip number three kind of rolls in to tip number four and that’s to keep a food diary you know this is something I started doing like later in the year last year and it’s honestly like so eye opening it’s crazy so when I was in like my best shape ever like four or five years ago I tracked literally everything that I ate and now that I’ve been trying to like get back on my healthy living and my healthy diet I decided I’d start tracking what I was eating again so I actually used this app called My Fitness Pal and this is the same app that I use like way back in the day so I decided to like redownload it onto my phone and actually like keep track of the things I was eating and it helps you see like if you’re getting all the vitamins and protein and everything into your diet as well so it tracks literally everything like if you have a cup of spinach you just pop in that cup of spinach and you can see like all the iron you’re getting everything like that so I personally love it for those reasons and just to keep like on track so yeah I think keeping a diary of what you’re eating is extremely beneficial and it just it just makes you aware of what you’re consuming and I think that’s a good thing just to know and not like push it to the back of your mind yeah I personally really like it and it really helps me stay on track personally so that’s why I like to do it and to make sure I am getting enough protein and all of that good stuff into my diet so my next tip would be to find things that are gonna keep you inspired and keep you motivated so what I personally like to do is I like to follow a lot of like veggie food accounts and stuff like that and maybe some fitness people that way I can get that inspiration while I’m just like mindlessly scrolling throughout the day and I think that is such a good thing to do because you want to have things around you or like in your feeds that are gonna keep you inspired and keep you motivated and make you want to live that healthier lifestyle I think it’s really important to just surround yourself with things that are gonna inspire you and keep you motivated because that is gonna affect like your just overall mood like maybe you’re feeling kind of down one day and in the dumps and then you see that quick little exercise video or those yoga poses from before-and-after photos and that’s gonna really push you and motivate you to keep going I also love listening to podcasts and stuff like that whenever I’m like at the gym or I’m just walking I always pop on a podcast that is gonna motivate me or just like success stories and interviews and stuff like that that always always always inspires me and makes me so motivated after I’m done listening so my next little tip would be to get exercise anywhere and everywhere that you can so whether it’s parking far away like when you’re going to the store and then you have to walk into the store and you are getting like those extra steps in or taking the stairs I personally take the stairs all the time I just like to do that and it makes me feel better about myself and also this is probably gonna sound really really weird but this is something that I do like if I I’m cooking food or Sam like warming up a meal in the microwave and I have like two minutes to kill I will do like squats for those two minutes or I will do we practice some yoga poses have been really trying to improve my dancer pose so I’ll do that during those two minutes yeah just anything like that and you’re killing time and you’re also getting in a little bit of exercise so try to incorporate a little bit more exercise whether you’re just doing a stretch while you’re microwaves on or are doing those squats and lunges I think any little bit helps and just to get the blood flowing and your body moving a little bit yeah that’s just something I personally like to do and my last tip tip number seven is to get active in the morning I am the kind of person that has to work out in the morning I don’t usually like working out at night time as much because I’m more likely to blow it off and decide not to go out so I have to like get up in the morning and do it right away kind of thing and then I know I’m good for the day and I don’t have to stress about it and I know for a lot of people like time is an issue in the morning so I would highly suggest finding a quick 10 to 15 minute workout you can do from home right in the morning I will just do like a really really quick like yoga routine or a quick Pilates or a workout or something like that and you really can’t have an excuse if it’s like a 10-minute quick like get your blood pumping kind of class so I’ve mentioned before that I absolutely love like yoga with Adriene and boho beautiful and boho beautiful has a ton of classes that are literally just like 10 to 15 minutes and some of them really get your freaking sweat on so literally no excuses there are tons of YouTube classes you can do that are 10 minutes long and it just honestly helps it sets your mood for the day and you are gonna feel so good afterwards you never regret working out ever so I would definitely recommend just finding something quick to do right in the morning before you even start getting ready you make it the first thing you do when you get up and you were gonna feel like a million bucks afterwards and just be ready for the day alright guys so that wraps up my seven tips for living a healthier lifestyle like I said these are just like easy little things that I try to incorporate into my life to just live overall more so let me know what you guys do to try to live a healthier life on a day to day basis because I always love hearing everybody else’s tips as well and yeah that wraps it up so I will see you guys in my next video bye [Music]

The Vegan Ironman Diet of Cro-Mags’ John Joseph

I love training in New York City New York City is my home it’s a pretty wild place you’re always gonna see some crazy go down come all over the place like this his fight here is far far that’s why I sold angel dust in 1978 and got shot and went to prison at the Dome man so another day in the life I’m on Joseph author lead singer of the cro-mags and Ironman and Ironman is 2.4 miles swim 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile marathon it adds up to one hundred and forty point six miles the thing about when you start doing Ironman it’s either gonna be one and done or are you gonna get the Ironman bug and you’re gonna be like yeah all right sign up for the next race and that’s what I did I finished New York and I signed up right away for the next race which was Cabo and then I just kept going since I just did Taiwan April 12th then now I’m doing Boulder there’s a lot leading up to preparing yourself for an Ironman you it’s gonna take a toll on your body it’s gonna take a toll on your mind so you have to put the groundwork in first and foremost you have to put the training in and I’ve always been athletic you know I boxed in the Navy I boxed when I was locked up in the 70s I bike raced I ran marathons but in 1981 I saw Ironman Hawaii on Wide World of Sports you know I was watching these people just put everything on the line like wow the emotion just I’m like I’m gonna do that race one day as I’m getting ready for the desire man’s what I do is I’ll ride from Manhattan and I’ll go out to lock away Beach dump my bike at my buddy’s place put my wetsuit on and get in the water and do my 2.4 miles swim and refuel get back on the bike and hammer back into the city through Brooklyn so I’d do one big loop an opportunity came about the New York Ironman came in 2012 and I’ve started to work with this coach Orion Mims who’s done like an insane amount of Iron Man’s half Iron Man’s and he’s like dude let me coach you and I can get us in this race you know for this charity and then Aaron was my strength and conditioning coach and helped me work through a lot of injuries that I had with trigger point and different stretching and activation stuff to make sure that I was able to finish so and your nutrition is a major part of it too high nutrient dense foods is very important leading up to this race I’m eating five six times a day you know you never want the tank to be empty man I’m constantly consuming a lot of fruits veggies a lot of plant-based proteins I’m in juice press every day I’m usually in here right after I hit the gym 50 percent of my diet is raw plant-based one of my main staples I do to chia seeds hooded high and omegas really helps with the training and I also do the superfood acai and I do a shake every day too so I’m gonna have you guys make me the clean green protein that’s got kale spinach hemp protein almond butter coconut milk so that’s more of like a recovery after you train hard so I came off the bike or come out of the gym I always had food issues cuz I was in a really bad foster home for seven years that starved us so I mean I would eat just whatever I could get my hands on rotting meat whatever it was the worst and back at the end the ATI met the Bad Brains ended up splitting from the Navy and coming in New York and getting a job with them and they’re the ones that actually got me to go plant-based because they were like you could work with us but HR this thing it was like you can’t eat meat and then I got a job with them and next thing you knew I got off the meat all that I actually started doing raw foods first I’m gonna make some dinner so the thing I like about this store he gets everything from a lot of local organic produce and this is like the neighborhood store I’ve been shopping in here 20-some odd years so a lot of the endurance athletes more and more are going plant-based because it helps you recover quicker and meat puts the body in a stressful condition because it’s very difficult to digest and we’re making a recipe out of my book meat is for pussies so I’m gonna make you guys meatless chicken burritos these burritos I make are high protein very high nutrient dense dinner so we’re gonna catch some rice going we’re gonna put the coconut oil in here which is gonna add a lot of good fat so mustard seeds will add a lot of good flavor and hang smells like garlic and then we do our tumeric that’s really kill them cancer cells BAM so you know it takes preparation time to make good food but it’s worth it because the that standing eating fast food are gonna spend many many weeks and months in the hospitals seeing doctors getting on line to get their medication so I’d rather invest the time make a good meal homemade so now look at this rice first of all the rice is high in protein and then second you got the peas and you got the cashews and look at look at the greens on there that we’re gonna put into the burritos we’re gonna use the leaves these have more vitamin C than than oranges look at look at the colors of our food I lived in the Hari Krishna temple and I used to my early beginning was cleaning the pots and cleaning the kitchen and working alongside the cook but actually Prabhupada pictured right here this was the person who started the whole vegetarian movement in America I’ve served this to people and they thought they were even meat I didn’t even tell them how amazing this stuff really is it’s just vegetable protein man the philosophy is if you just cook brown rice and beans for people who the wants to eat that if you can make some very healthy food that tastes good people are gonna want to eat this stuff so we got our rice which we prepared earlier throw a couple of pieces the veggie chicken so now you got your protein you got your carbs we’re gonna put some greens up in that so we got the super protein burrito so now we’re gonna put it on the plate and we’re gonna offer it there this is a picture of brow pod my spiritual teacher and radha govinda krishna so we’re almost done here with this the burritos can come out Oh came out nice see this is part of the process you got to realize where I came from abusive homes on the streets so when I got into this this just saved my life so I try to follow what the teachings are come on mama turn on your krishna baby badeah takers name nicer than linker to spend another one of the way of over 100 jobs you got is hardening and that’s that it’s all about proper consciousness the way you prepare you food the way you cook your food and I try to do things the right way attention to detail all right and since I did all the training today I’m gonna you have the extra veggies [Music] people always say oh you do to cro-mags to get in shape for Ironman I’m like nah I do the Ironman to keep in shape for the cro-mags I always say I want to be able to perform as I did when I was in my 20s and I’m still able to do that I really get my training in I don’t mess around if I’m on tour which I was I was going out in the hittin 15 18 mile runs or trying to find a gym with a stationary bike and ride it without altitude mask now you look at most bands they’re trying to live the rock and roll fantasy life sex drugs and rock and roll that ain’t how we live in our lives this is a trigger point therapy through the points in the body so before I do exercise that due dates this loosens up move my arms alive when I play so and I swam today so type you know one week out from an Ironman people wouldn’t even book a show like this I booked I got you shot so if I don’t warm up and do my stuff then you’re asking dangerous you know when I was 20 years old I didn’t have to do man I could just bang my body up any but I’m I’m not that young you know now when you get off a hundred mile ride you forgetting hips and whatever you’re feeling it you know so you got to just get off and have the discipline to stretch and do trigger point all right [Music] [Music] the music is very important part of my life is what it’s what took me out of the darkness of like going back to prison I’m ending up a dead person or a drug addict [Music] the way I describe the cro-mags is it’s it’s just one big explosion of positive energy at the shows the audience participation is what fuels the fire so you know we love that kind of stuff and it may look like it’s a violent act but it’s not really it’s just everybody grooving in having a good time and that’s what hardcore punk rock was about here tonight we see a good so way back in 2012 we played this festival the next day – well thanks Sunday I’m doing my 6th [Applause] [Music] so we’re here at the hotel in Boulder near the start and we’re prepping everything for the Boulder Ironman I have to be in the water at 6:30 a.m. which requires me to get up early and start consuming nutrients I will do oatmeal with a banana and then I will have my organic bread with peanut butter on it so these are cliffs these are 98% organic and vegan I will take these to the top tube so the minute I get out of the water I bang down two of these before I get on the bike these bottles will also have scratch this is the go-to stuff this is what guys in the Tour de France climb mountains in 90-degree heat with this has the salts and then I also have glucose this is just liquid glucose it just instantly goes into your blood and gives you instant energy the other thing I’ll do on the bike which is very important is to try to get down as much of these as I can so I’ll do two Clif bars I’ll try to get three down because when you get to the run it’s all gels and water you’re not gonna get one of these deaths and most of this stuff will be consumed tomorrow I will burn over 9,000 calories in my race it’s about finishing this race that’s everything I’ve put four months of heavy hardcore training into this if there’s an injury whatever happens you push forward and you get through it it’s 5:15 we’re going into the bike transition so I can set my water bottles in we’re at the reservoir this is the swim start so you come out of the water get on your bike we’re gonna pump the tires put out gels on the bike all the nutrition I need this is a mindset in a way of life you know and you meet the best people in the in the Iron Man community man when you’re standing on that beach in the morning and you’re looking at 3,000 people who for the last six months of their life dedicated everything to being at that start it’s a lot of energy when those people are getting ready to get in that water it’s it’s something else the water that’s when you [Applause] [Music] the mind is much more powerful than the body if you put your mind to it you’d be surprised you know people say that to me oh I can’t do a higher man I’m like don’t say you can’t do an Iron Man you can do an Iron Man if you train for it and applied yourself you can finish an Iron Man I see people 50 pounds overweight crossing that finish line because they don’t let anybody put the demons of doubt in their head [Music] then hails at the end will murder it was like three huge climbing but I just stayed on the bike you know it I got a little altitude sickness you know like just nauseousness it is what it is that’s what I signed up now it’s just a nice little marathon it’s like enjoy it that’s the main thing don’t take it up to prove anything to anybody except yourself that you were able to do this but you have to enjoy it if you don’t enjoy the process you’re not gonna stick with it so I wasn’t gonna quit I just dealt with the pain you know and you’re always gonna have pain but you know what you look around man and everybody else out on that course is going through what you’re going through [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] she’s gonna walk all the way through [Music] work through the pain when 2016 hits I’ll probably do another two Iron Man’s before I hit Kona so I got in Kona finally and you know trained like hell but I’m gonna get it done [Applause] muscle go I love it I enjoy it i’m not i don’t have this jock mentality that some of these people have that do these races i don’t ever want to be like that i want to be competing in iron man’s when I’m 70 !
