[UltraVid id=148 ]Jose and I are looking at the email the things we can’t eat can’t eat eggs oh I [Music] really like any type of food except for like really really vegetable Hanabi food I’m not used to looking at labels and get like a lot of knowledge and the like what goes into foods and if you complain my diets better after this and hopefully I learn how to cook something I’ve just been on this like journey of having like healthy relationships with myself food and exercise and I’m just excited to like start something new and do it and that healthy positive mental space we’re going on our first grocery mission I don’t know what to look for maybe we’ll just go to what we normally get and then look for options I made it to the fruit section which we can guarantee is beacon I found some mate listen I’m here for sausage not in my sexual life just in this life we’re going for the safe option safe option probably not that healthy but alright let’s try this vegan sausage put some mustard on it that’s vegan to consistency a little questionable but taste very good oh my god actually kind of tastes like sausage we have a little meeting today and here’s all the food that I can eat alright so we had catered lunch today and there was tons of sandwiches all of which had meat except one and as tofu I do not like tofu but I’m sticking it out today Oh me and my friend were talking and she’s vegan she was saying how like she gets annoyed when people do this because he will like starve and just don’t end up eating because they can’t eat anything and so I’ve really been making it a priority to make sure I’m not starving and I’m not I feel very full and I’m eating vegetables and I’m eating fruits and I feel good so I’m facetiming my boyfriend and he’s eating eggs I’m really jealous that looks really good right now so today I realized that not all vegan food is healthy I know that’s kind of dumb to realize I snacked a lot I had Oreos I had chips there was a lot of things you can’t eat when you’re vegan and not all of them are great for you so I think from now on I kind of just need to watch myself make sure I’m just getting like the nutrients I need so it’s about 2:30 a.m. usually right now I would make an egg sandwich with cheese but I can’t so my lunch today is sausage list sausage and broccoli I’m at the mall and I keep smelling Wetzel’s freakin pretzels and I can’t eat it and it’s killing me we are on our way to go to an all vegan restaurant we’re here we look at the menus the best part of this is that we can just choose whatever [Music] so after being vegan for a week I’ve realized that it’s truly like amazing got meatless meat options it still made me feel like I was eating me but I felt better about it honestly because I knew I wasn’t eating animals I think it really just opened my eyes to the fact that like I just need to start reading my labels of the things I eat because honestly the things not even are good to eat that don’t have vegan stuff in it I’m like oh my god they have this amount of sugar and other things that I should be looking at and paying attention to I’m really glad I did this challenge and from that one I can definitely see myself exploring a lot more options on the food so yes I will be continuing some vegan habits but also yes I am driving to Korean barbecue at this very moment, I just say today
[UltraVid id=117 ]That will fit not all the chambers you can tell me stories all right good morning guys so today I’m going to show you everything that I eat and drink in a day so you guys saw this morning I already had some lemon water always have that when I first wake up warm lemon water just feels so good really energizing super refreshing beyond that full of vitamin C minerals it gets your digestive tract going stimulates your limp so I definitely start off with some lemon a lot of try it for a month so you guys feel start off with a quarter of a lemon and maybe you know two three cups of water and you guys saw me throw some buckwheat into a bowl there as well and soak it I’m going to have that later on today after my smoothie after my workout so I wanted to soak it because if you guys know buckwheat gets a little bit like fly me high and if you just soak it for a couple hours beforehand it gets rid of all that so I’m just on my bike right now heading to the gym so I figured at least I’d show you guys you know that I’m doing some athletics and stuff today so you can kind of put it into some context what I’m consuming and I’m just going to pull off here and stretch a little bit before my workout like I do and I take a little pre-workout I’ll show you guys what I do there [Music] so this is what I usually take before my workouts called Vega where you workout energizer this version is a sugar-free version so sweetened with stevia but they do make a brown rice syrup sweetened one which is really great if you do them like long-distance sports or endurance sports however if you want to blossom the gym for an hour and a half I really like this one we’ve got your Vermont a which is source of caffeine devil’s claw which helps to reduce inflammation and help obtain green tea rhodiola which is an adaptogen it helps your body deal with stress ginseng definitely a little bit energizing there as well some sodium for the electrolytes turmeric help with inflammation potassium or electrolytes ginger ginger is a cool ingredient it helps other ingredients work together so it’s a synergistic ingredient where it helps other things absorb into your body and make them more bioavailable so ginger always very cool to see so you can see not a whole lot of crap in this and then just stevia beetroot powder acai and pomegranate flavors note it so I put a scoop of this into a little bit of water just a little bit of that lemon water still from this morning and shift it up in about 20 minutes blast off so I got to get warm it up I’m going to warm up have my workout I’m not going to fill a lot of that because that’s not the point of this video I get carried away with these that’s why I don’t have to do them and what I eat in a day I like to them all the other stuff so gonna cut off here maybe show you guys you know bit of what I drink through my workout what I consume through my workouts keep you going and then I’ll show you my smoothie once I get home so we got a stretch warm-up it’s awesome you guys can see what I eat all day get these games [Music] [Music] so I didn’t film much of the work out just a few movements that were easy to film there’s a nice ledge where I set up my camera to get the shot and there you can see crystal working out – that’s my girlfriend she’s awesome vegan – she’s getting stronger here’s meeting there’s some concentration curls I’d never do these kind of funny that way you caught this on still try and get those me Maya Delgado arms so here’s the big intro work out drink just water not that exciting so I just had an awesome workout really good push day so just had an awesome workout really good whole day feels so good I felt really strong today so rather than doing bodyweight stuff I just did some like heavier lifts and deadlift bent over rows seated rows wide grip rows narrow grip it could be like something like dumbbell curls and stuff I don’t always do nude at all it was fun and heading home now to make a smoothie and starving got a big day also work ahead of me so let’s go make a smoothie got to get home first you know what’s up Harry time for my post-workout smoothie so you guys follow me much you guys will know what I make already but here we go 6 bananas a couple handfuls of blueberries 3 big and medjool dates I’m using that protein powder half a scoop of that right there it’s a fermented vegan protein but jinhwan amazing taste so good let’s try it digest really well – 2 tablespoons flax you know some turmeric and black pepper in there and then just pile on the green that’s arugula nice and spicy green super alkalizing full of minerals filtered water blend it all up and I had pulled out some purple cabbage and I always put like a chunk of lemon in there as well I forgot to do that so I’m adding it now the Vitamix is amazing it will blast through anything like that same with the Blendtec any of those high speed blenders they’re so powerful it turns that lemon peel into just a silky smooth delicious post-workout smoothie so here I am taking the first sip I love it every time it’s just the best that is how you recover from a workout guys plant fuels keep the inflammation down refuel those muscles with glycogen lots of antioxidants lots of nutrients tons of minerals and vitamins if you’re just doing protein and water after your workout you think you’re helping yourself you know get on board so now I’m going to go and crush this smoothie and do some work answer some emails help my clients probably have some meetings and now it is time to eat some buckwheat so you can see here it’s a little bit slimy the water turns is kind of like pinkish color which is kind of neat so I just rinsed all that off just strain it and you could probably even eat it like this if you want but I like to cook it a little bit so that’s one cup of buckwheat just so we can easily count this I don’t usually weigh it like that or measuring like that but this is what’s all going in there so we got buckwheat that’s a cup of dry buckwheat and then we have an apple and we’ve got some canned peaches in there you guys have ever tried Okanagan peaches from British Columbia Canada they are to die for so I’ve talked it with some pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds from shredded coconut some raisins some cinnamon and some organic almond milk so this is a healthy lunch this is how I stay lean I stay shredded I build muscle on a vegan diet by eating things like this a bunch of processed and packaged scrap foods like this guy’s gotta be real food alright just got my hair cut I like it nice and short good for the summer I didn’t finish all my food so I’m just finishing it now why would I do that take a bite when I’m trying to film I have a couple errands to run in town and then I’m going to jet home keep working a little bit and then hopefully I have time to do a little workout outside well ab workout before dinner make some dinner good day so far big eating day feel good alright so it’s been doing some work and I’ve got a craving and that craving is movement like I move my body for a little bit I’m going to just work on some ABS and I guess a bit of cardio so I got my pull-up bar today I’ll be doing some like leg raises and stuff on my slackline just for fun got the battle ropes out got the rope and the tree over there we vert dip bars pretty set up I’m going to grab a yoga mat and put it out here as well and just smash it 25 minutes just big for lots of different things just keep moving have fun and then I’m going to be good and hungry for dinner and I’ll show you guys what I make for dinner tonight it’s going to be awesome at a big day I guess I could voice over this quick little workout that I have this is the backyard set up I’ll do a whole video on this perfect pretty cool and I got some rings and the slackline that I was just on really good for balance good core workout and get pretty creative on it you please ring just hang in the tree and I keep those ones up all the time I have some wood ones which are a bit nicer but I can’t full-time just student some leg raises from even pole that’s that bands which a nutbar I made if you guys saw my last video I think woods or two videos ago I go over the making of that pretty fun that’s why spending for the bamboo but it doesn’t just break it like a dowel was it does start to crack it just keeps its integrity for some reason amazed and amazing building material so knee raises and now I’m doing horrible and now I’m doing a little like hip dusters I think I have that a old ABS video that I did [Music] alright it’s time for dinner and I am hungry so here’s dinner you can see it all Whole Foods all good stuff of some sauerkraut there you can go on the side take care of my good gut bacteria keep everything healthy so we are what we absorb you guys know that so these lentils here are going to provide the bulk of the calories from the dish and they’re also going to provide a lot of protein and tons of fiber going to fill me up so that’s what I’m using they’re organic lentils so salt free no salt added can of lentils you can make your own but I just want to show you how simple and how quick and easy this could be and I also needed a easy simple meal idea so I didn’t have some like big plans of what I was going to make for dinner I just kind of looked and saw what I had as a base and I saw the lentils and I just grabbed a bunch of the veggies that I had in the fridge and pull them all out just decided what I was going to make so here I am sauteing some veggies you guys will notice there that I put some water down first on a hot pan I often use water instead of oil for a variety of reasons you guys curious I could probably make a whole video on that but basically I don’t need it oil doesn’t really do anything for me I eat my fats from whole food sources here’s another little trick I learned make a little oven with the cooked food for the uncooked food so that it cooks and kind of schemes in there I’m doing the same with the peanut there so just chop up a bunch veggies I just love how this down kind of meditative Wow and there we have it dinner is done so that wasn’t too hard and that’s a lot of food I ate a lot today and it felt amazing I felt energetic and never bogged down all day and I am going to show you guys this little treat I’m gonna have after dinner I try not to eat much after dinner but I made these the other night and they’re so good basically just peanut butter and ground flax and date I’ll blend it up together think there’s a little bit of vanilla in there too cinnamon as well so good anyways let’s eat dinner alright so that’s it for this video I’m starving tired to the long day but a lot of activity I’m a delicious dinner it looks so good very excited eat it so as you can see I mean you’re not going to lose all your muscles do you go vegan you’re not going to feel deprived I’ve had lots of delicious food today I’ve been satiated all day I’ve eaten a lot like the volume of food is quite big that I’ve eaten if you’ve noticed and I stay lean and trim and strong and high-energy my digestion is good I so thanks for sticking around to the end guys I’m just going to analyze sort of everything I ate today and show you the nutrients and the profile so this is everything I ate you guys can write it down if you want and eat just like me so here the sort of an overview I guess nutrients 3000 calories close to hundred grams of protein over 600 grams of carbs holy that’s a lot and just under 40 grams of fat over 600 grams of carbs guys next time someone tells you carbs make you fat tell them about me please so here are all the rest of the nutrients the minerals and the vitamins and I am crushing RTI’s so we’ll start at the top left and go from general down the carbs fats protein then back up to vitamins down a minerals so we talked about the calories 3,000 cows and I guess I should put into context how much I weigh and how big I am everyone’s always asking what are your stats and I’m not a huge guy but I guess the camera is kind to me people are always surprised when they hear that I’m only about 64 65 kilogram usually around 145 pounds and then five six with shoes on so not a big guy at all but hey I’m working with what I got and I love it so we got no alcohol no caffeine some caffeine in that pre-workout I’m not that shy of caffeine I’ll have a cup of coffee here and there a bit of green tea there’s that water isn’t activating – except during more than that I probably drank posted two and a half liters that day three liters is my goal I really get quite that much 600 grams of carbs we talked about that it’s incredible carbs are our fuel and they don’t make you facts I’ve been eating this much for a long time and I’m as lean as can be so you guys can tell over a hundred grams of fiber that’s very high I think I already is 35 and I know most Americans don’t get there so 102 is super good get things moving through reduce the toxic low in your body fat 40 grams I guess we should touch on the sugars I’ve never even looked at that number coming out to be if it’s attached to fruit and not a refined sugar like I’m not worried about it at all so I’m not even talk about it fat 40 grams I think they’re the are I don’t know what that set at maybe 50 grams it looks like would be like the hundred percent and I’m happy with 40 between 40 45 grams somewhere around there it’s probably good I could have had a bit more if I had a ripe avocado it would have been higher trust me so a lot of those fats are omega-3 fats from the flaxseed and omega sixes are very low which is unbelievable you want a pretty close ratio there and mine’s almost two to one which is unreal absolutely incredible the average American I remember hearing a statistic is close to 18 to 1 6 to 3 so yeah pression an anti-inflammatory good thing to build your cell membranes with full of you know healthy fats these are the ones that you want to be consuming no cholesterol and then we’re going to protein so hundred grams that’s quite a bit that’s more than I thought that I was getting so it’s a lot of protein and it’s only a half a scoop of protein powder so it’s only about I think it was 12 grams of protein of that 12 grams of that is protein powder nonfat all the all these essential amino acids are well well represented you can see there the branched chain amino acids isoleucine leucine and valine or valine some people call it those are all well met leucine supposed to be a hard one to get on if you can diet and I’m just crushing it at over 200 percent 230 percent of that so nope wrong building muscle over here guys trust me so all the vitamins are met as you guys would assume except for b12 which you need to take a supplement if you’re a long-term vegan and then all the other vitamins have been met just you know in vitamin A some people get alarmed when they see it that high our body is fine with consuming that much beta-carotene and plant-based vitamin A however preformed vitamin A that comes from meat in that amount it could definitely be pro cancerous and not good for us vitamins vitamin C Goods vitamin D I did not get 100% of that because we get that from the Sun and if it’s not if you’re not in the sunny environment or you know you’re not getting a lot of Sun and it probably has to supplement that look into a vegan d3 supplement vitamin E look at that over a hundred percent there and that’s probably thanks to some of the nuts and seeds that I was eating vitamin K a lot lots of that so that my body is times the k2 turned into vitamin k2 and then everything else down here minerals and all that exciting everything’s met some people some Keener’s might notice that calcium is 775 I think I got there I can’t see it’s really really tiny but I know it’s over a hundred percent however the sort of RDI that comes from I think the USDA s thousand milligram I don’t think that we need that much when we’re doing other things to stimulate our bone density and there’s a lot of you know evidence to prove that and if you guys are really curious about it you know ask me in the comments and I can provide you with some but a lot of communities that don’t eat dairy and don’t consume nearly as much dairy that we do and have far less calcium intake have a lot better bone density is basically what it comes down to so I’m fine and I haven’t broken anything since I’ve been vegan and I’m pretty reckless so copper iron manganese magnesium phosphorus potassium they’re all met look at that potassium people would think that with all my bananas I was like a billion times you know like lethal dose of potassium not even note 183 but you didn’t know that pretty cool selenium was met I didn’t even have a Brazil nut look at that sodium you know I didn’t add any salt to my stew that day I don’t think but there’s probably more than that maybe in the salsa and that sort of thing and then zinc was met probably with pumpkin seeds and buckwheat got a ton of zinc as well so look at that guy’s I didn’t even really plan this date I just ate what I had and what I liked and I met all my nutrient requirements I felt satiated all day I ate delicious food it didn’t take me a long time to prepare it it was all Whole Foods and you know what look at how cheap all of that food is it’s incredibly cheap so honestly guys get on board with this and I know a lot of you guys are already happy to inspire if you guys have any questions solid month since I actually sat down and filmed a video so this feels a little bit strange so today I’m actually filming something a little bit different for you guys I’m going to be filming a small vegan business haul because I’ve recently picked up a couple of things from some stores that I have discovered on Instagram so I just wanted to share them with you guys cuz I know the christmas is coming up and some of you may want to support the smaller businesses rather than the big stores so I thought I would show you a couple of sauce that I’ve recently discovered and yeah that’s it really so the first story I want to talk to you guys about is an Etsy store that I discovered through Instagram called the punky bunny so the punky bunny is run by a lady called Emma she creates everything on the store she hand makes it and she ships everything from her house so everything is done in her house and she designs everything as well she has some really unique designs on there she creates pins patches cards prints like birthday cards and stuff like that t-shirts tote bags key rings absolutely everything basically so I was really happy to see that she had a really good variety of stuff on there and everything on the shop kind of has a theme and a look to it but I just I just really loved so I picked myself up the gift box now this is such good value for money because inside here you get quite a few items and this gift box costs 9 pounds so it’s really really good value for money by the way I bought this myself with my own money and it’s not sponsored at all not gifted so just thought I’m telling that before show you so this is the box that it comes in and it comes in this like the letter box sized box so that if you don’t have like I don’t know somebody to pick up your box different colors and it always makes me cringe a little bit when I see it because it’s not it doesn’t match the theme at the bag so I really want to put these ones on there instead I think these would look really cool with it then inside this little box here which was actually packaged up like that came this keyring so a lot of the items that she has on her store are kind of this like Tavor theme so you don’t know what tarot cards are they’re basically like and I think it’s like they’re like they’re like cards that spiritual people use to kind of tell you your future and tell you where you are in life from what’s happening with you things like that and I picked up this a keyring and it says the vegan on it and I thought this was really nice it was really subtle she has some other really cool designs on there there’s a few other key rings that I really want to get and to buy these individually is a really good price as well so the print that I chose is this one it is again in this Tarot theme and this says compassion it’s got two hands making the shape of the heart with a whale insider and a Sun at the top and I thought this was really cute because I wanted to put a print in my house that was gonna be that I didn’t want something to say vegan on it because basil lives her as well and I don’t know if he would like me to just put like vegan posters everywhere so and I got this one instead it just says compassion I think it’s really subtle it’s really tasteful very nice and I really like it and the card that it’s printed on it’s really nice it’s kind of like all speckled and stuff from where it’s been made out of recycled materials and I really like that it just gives it a really nice look then the last item that you get in this box is a card so you can choose from like birthday cards I think she might do like Get Well cards or stuff like that as well she has loads of different card options on there I have this print here but sand that I keep just on like my little table and it says spice up your damn life and I got this from Urban Outfitters that’s actually like a birthday card but I just put it in one of those little frames because I thought it would be really cute as prints so I got this one which is a fox because I thought out of all of the cards on there this was the one that would look best as a print it wouldn’t look random just having that happy birthday and an inner frame I might in my flat and and I thought this is really cute I really like foxes I’ve come to appreciate them a lot more since going vegan before I was vegan I didn’t really appreciate foxes at all and now I’ve really learned to appreciate them especially after following and is it Jupiter or juniper is it juniper fox or Instagram the really famous Fox on Instagram so cute you have to go and follow him something I noticed while I was on her sister as well is that she does occasionally and throw in like a free gift or like a lucky dip card into her boxes which i think is a really nice touch and it’s so nice to get to order something and then you get like a little free extra summin summin in that i think it gives a really nice incentive for that person to go back and buy something and it’s also just very thoughtful I think it’s a really nice touch so in here she actually put another foxy item so we have it this notebook which is all lined paper and it’s really cute I really like this and I am actually I actually wanted a notebook I was actually thinking about buying a notebook a few days before I got this box and delivered to me because I’m doing a lot of stuff with my vegan guide at the moment on my website and I want to make some notes and stuff sorry if you can hear my tummy rumbling it keeps rumbling and I’m really hungry the next store I’m gonna talk to you guys about is a store that I’ve been actually following for quite a long time on Instagram it used to be called Asia ethical wears now the girl who runs this cassia she does like old school t-shirt printing so she used to print a lot of her own t-shirts and jumpers and stuff like that and she sold them on a shop called cassia ethical where she used to have this kind of like mandela and she used to do like mandela print t-shirts and vegan t-shirts like she has the whole vegan babe a lot of you may have seen this she’s the girl who’d prints vegan babe it’s her brand basically and I’ve been following cassia for ages and she recently rebranded her entire store to now be called care wares which is so cute by the way and she’s pretty much rebranded everything on she still has the vegan babe stuff but now she has a lot more kind of pastel papi vegan vibe clothing and everything is ethically made everything is hand printed by I think she actually does all the printing herself as well which is amazing so yeah I picked up a couple of things on care wares so the first thing I have here is this tote bag and it says tofu appreciation society now I fell in love with this tote bag when I saw it on her Instagram page I just really liked it I really liked the tote bags that don’t say like vegan all over them I like tote bags that kind of hint at being vegan but in a subtle way that are just fun and cute because I think they draw a lot of attention from people and then you kind of look into a bit more and then you’re like oh it’s like a vegan thing so the way this has been printed it is it feels and looks 3d it does actually come off of the bag a little bit I don’t know if you can see it there but this is just so cute and when I first saw this on the store and I thought this was why I’m really funny about having like white bags because well having like a white faux leather bag is fine because you can wipe it off but having like a cotton or natural material bag that is why or a light color I get really freaked out by it because I mess things up a lot so I’m gonna try and keep this bag as clean as possible it is a craze more of a cream color than a white which I was happy about because if it’s bright white I’m gonna mess it up in like a week but if it’s cream you know I’m not gonna mess it up that quickly everything came packaged really nicely she put it in like a pink mail bag and then everything was wrapped up in this really cute pink tissue paper with these little like care bear stickers on it and I just thought it’s really cute these are like really nice touches that you don’t tend to get with bigger and bigger shops or like bigger online stores you only really get these with small vegan businesses I’ve noticed so I think that’s a really nice touch and a really nice bonus of buying something from a small pekin business so yeah I have the tofu appreciation bag she has her little label on it there which is care wares vegan organic Fairtrade and totally cute which it is everything on there is totally cute and I said she’s rebranded and she has a lot of new stuff on there so you guys really need to go and check it out then I picked up one of the vegan baby butt patches so I mentioned you guys earlier about the vegan babe hoodies this is the logo that she prints on to these gorgeous pink hoodies and just so pretty I really want to get one I’m gonna put this onto a denim jacket I have a black denim jacket that has quite decent size pockets at the front so I think it would look really cool just like here oh my god it’s gonna look so cute the last item that I want to show you guys is my monthly greedy llama box so if you have been following my channel for a while then you would have seen that over the past few it or you can dunk it in the hot drink you know I am gonna read to it because it tastes smells very good okay next we have the nares gnar I can never pronounce this nonce Nan’s mixed berry oat biscuits now I got a box of these in a previous greeting on the box they were like the ginger something they were like an orange box I’m not the biggest fan of Nan’s oak biscuits and to me they always look a lot nicer on the packaging than they actually taste so I’m gonna give these to my sister then we have a little a can of coconut blue coconut blue blue dragon coconut milk blue dragon coconut milk is actually a brand that I use quite a lot for my curries and stuff and when it’s on sale because it’s a little bit pricey in the stores and so whenever it’s like a pound I’ll always buy it because it is a good brand of coconut milk sorry I’m really hot that’s why I keep like pushing the hair on my face because it literally sticking to my forehead I am so hot then we have some vegetable Bowl tea organic looks like soup is it a soup or is it like a I don’t know it is a vegetarian friendly wheat-free gluten-free dairy-free vegan friendly low-fat mustard free and celery free oh I never heard of that handcrafted gourmet vegan wagon-wheel yes I have had a vegan wagon-wheel before and that box I mentioned earlier that my sister got for me it had a vegan wagon wheel in it but I don’t think it was this brand because I don’t think I’ve ever tried this brand but anyway this is the roundup vegan wagon wheel and I always like I ate something and yesterday that wasn’t vegan it had milk and eggs in it and I’ll talk to you guys for more about that in my upcoming vegan Q&A video and yeah I thought was going to throw up so now I’m looking at the ingredients of everything I’m like are you sure you’re vegan the last two things that we have in here are the bounce vlive balls so I always see these in the shops right but they are literally like two pounds for this tiny little ball and no offense to bounce but that’s really overpriced that’s so expensive and so I’m very surprised to see that they are in this box and because these are very expensive right in the shot and that’s what I really like about these subscription boxes is that not only do you get products that you wouldn’t really know about or buy before is that you do actually you can actually end up saving a lot of money because they retail for the items in this box retail for a lot more than what the box is what you’re paying for the box if you know I mean that’s the whole point of a subscription box I guess to like kind of save you money and show you new products but yeah so these are protein energy balls amis we have armand KO and armand spirulina and so yeah 9 grams of veggie protein in each one which is refried pinto beans spinach some spices get some avocado going little salsa oh yeah baby whoo so um I’ve had a little bit of time to think about the you know outcomes of this election although I’m still kind of reeling I’m still trying to figure my out and still trying to figure out how to react and what to do and what to go where to go from here I don’t have any answers I don’t really know what to do except continue to follow my passions and follow the things I love love the people that are in my life show compassion lead by example and maybe I’m just too optimistic I’m a very optimistic person but I refuse to give up and refuse to concede into negativity and depression and sadness it sucks this out you know this election was ridiculous from from all aspects but that doesn’t mean that everything is over we collectively are an incredible force and if we focus on compassion focus on love and can focus on inclusion then we can do amazing things try not to get down on on everything and feel hopeless and helpless um because we can do something and I don’t know exactly what that is but I’m focusing on continuing to help people you know be healthy and happy and compassionate and passionate and to not stand for the blatant racism and the misogyny in the the fear and citing behavior and homophobic tendencies and thoughts I’m not willing to stand for it and neither should you this this is such a more important time than ever to truly stand up for that stuff if you ever see it you know maybe we’ll do another in-depth video about this later on but at the same time I don’t feel like it’s worth dwelling on we need to move forward let me know you know leave a comment below what do you think is the best way to move forward from this I don’t like I don’t change the paradigm of cycling and the thought about cycling and in the world which I’m really excited about something I want to do and to help more cyclists become more aware of the world around them [UltraVid id=17 ]hi I’m Satya and today we are going to discuss pickup limes top 12 tips for any beginners venturing into the world of veganism now this is a highly requested video and I’m very happy to share it with you today but before we begin there’s a few important things that I need to mention I am in no way pressuring you or forcing you to become a vegan that’s just not my philosophy I think you should always do what feels right to you and let others do the same and if you have no interest in adopting a vegan lifestyle you certainly don’t need to in order to still enjoy this video in the tips that I share including more plant-based foods into your diet is a win all around if you’re somebody who has a medical condition your immune compromised or your feeding young children I would recommend seeing a physician or a dietitian before you begin that way you’ve just got your basis covers and finally if you’re interested in learning more about my journey into the Egan ISM the difficulties I experienced when I first started or the fears that I had with coming out as a vegan diet ition I’ve already written about it on the website so I will leave a link to that in the description box below in case you feel like checking it out okay all of that aside now let’s get started forget what you heard about vegan food being bland the lifestyle being too expensive you’re not getting enough nutrients or just being too complicated to incorporate into your life if you go into it with a negative mindset it’s just going to feel like a punishment but trust me it is the furthest thing from that feeding this way is nourishing delicious and wholesome it’s food that loves you as much as you love it back and like anything else it gets easier with time and practice you’ll find more affordable places to shop and making meals will be just as quick if not quicker to make in time so forget everything you think you know and dive in with an open mind some people feel like when they become vegan they need to also simultaneously become zero-waste minimalists gluten-free sugar-free oil-free Fitness warriors not to mention an expert in vegan nutrition but why all the pressure you’re going to learn more and more about veganism with time and you can start to adopt these other lifestyle practices down the road if they even resonate with you at all but biting off more than you can chew just leads to in digestion so slow and steady friends like I said everything we do is harder and requires more of our time in the beginning so intentionally schedule some extra time when it comes to preparing meals at least for the first few weeks you’ll get faster don’t worry the lifestyle change is going to be complicated if you’ve got nothing on hand to work with so start by stocking up on the pantry essentials I’ve made a video on this already so I’ll link it at the end of this video if you want to check it out and you know what else if you’re just starting off please don’t go to the extreme and forbid yourself from having any treat foods only to look at other people who have them and then envy them now veganism is just as fun I always enjoy having some dark chocolate in the home and Robin always likes to have a bag of chips for whenever we’re in the mood and because a Whole Foods plant-based lifestyle means that you’re likely eating well the majority of the time you don’t have to give yourself a hard time for occasionally enjoying some treats something like some homemade vegan banana bread or homemade vegan cookies or muffins it’s all good in addition to the pantry essentials you’re going to want to also make sure that you are stocked up on things like fresh produce breads those plant-based meat alternatives I’ve already made a comprehensive cursory shopping list on vegan essentials so if you want to get your own free copy you can check out the link in the description box below this is not a deprivation diet it’s an eat in abundance lifestyle so a lot of times when people first think about veganism they start to think about all the things that they can’t have beef chicken fish cheese yogurt butter ice cream milk but that’s not the right mindset instead what we want to do is focus on all of the things we are adding and let these foods naturally replace the other stuff adding more plant-based dairy alternatives like soy almond rice or coconut milks and yogurts more whole grains more fruits more vegetables more nuts seeds trail mix of beans lentils tofu you get the idea and one more tip if you’re new to vegan take advantage of the different mock meats also known as textured vegetable proteins that are available at most large chain grocery shops when Robin first transition to eating more plant-based he says this was the only reason he was able to actually stick with it some mock meatballs mock ground beef and mock chicken helps in your transition for sure and if you don’t know how to cook tofu they even have pre season tofu available in most shops as well with time you can start to substitute for other more wholesome plant-based sources of protein if you’d like things like making your own tofu tempeh lentils and beans but in the beginning go ahead and use all the resources available to you when you do start to include more beans and lentils as your plant sources for protein and carbs start slow a lot of people go from having nothing to having a cup or more in a day and then they wonder why they’re experiencing in digestion or gas it does take our body some time to adjust so start seriously with as little as two tablespoons a day gradually increasing to a quarter of a cup half a cup full cup or however much you want so a gradual increase in intake can help to mitigate the hold gas and bloating I understand that it can be overwhelming in the beginning especially if you don’t know what to make so start by learning just a handful of recipes that you enjoy and learn them well these are going to be your default with this lifestyle picking up momentum there is no shortage of plant-based recipes on the web Pinterest and YouTube are two places that will offer you thousands of delicious recipes simply type in vegan recipes and you’ll have more options than you can imagine and if that still feels like too much work you can always go to the pickuplines Pinterest page with boards that have already been created and organized for you into breakfast smoothies drinks snacks main meals and more as always the link can be found in the description box below it is common to feel more hungry when you’ve just made the transition keep in mind that plant-based foods offer fewer calories for more bulk fruits vegetables and legumes simply can’t offer the same amount of calories as you would find in the same amount of fatty meats butter cheese or ice cream so if you’ve just finished an entire meal and an hour to later you find that you’re still hungry then honor your hunger and eat some more if you feel it’ll help it will take you some time to adjust but just trust that your body will adjust and find its own balance very soon [Music] I say this a lot because I think it’s the most powerful tool that we’ve got and that is what is your why power why is it that you want to adopt a plant-based lifestyle is it for your health for the environment for the animal can you be more specific and can you write it down by seeing it on a regular basis and constantly reminding ourselves of the why it’ll be more likely to stick and the other thing it does is it helps us to shift our focus away from the losses the things we think we’re losing like our ability to have chicken and instead what it does is it focuses our attention on the gains so gaining improved health gaining and improved environmental footprints gaining the peace of mind knowing that an animal’s life wasn’t taken for us to enjoy our meal now regardless of what your reason is and there’s no judgment the question to be asking yourself is why because it allows you to shift your focus away from the things you think you’re losing and instead focus on what you are actually gaining so you messed up furiously don’t sweat it just do as much as is reasonable to you there’s a few glorified stories of these people who became vegan overnight and never looked back and we all envy them because to be honest the path and journey into veganism is more of a zigzag when it is a straight line I mean think about it you’re rewriting years or decades of teachings about how to eat and you’re reconfiguring habits that you lived with for your whole life so the boat may Rock a couple of times if you trip just turn it into a dance and keep smiling in other words if you slipped up it’s seriously okay onwards and upwards yes a vitamin b12 supplement is recommended but how often you need to take it depends on the dosage I’ve written a very brief article on this I’ll leave the link in the description box in case you want to check it out and if you’re also living somewhere where the Sun is not shining so much or maybe it is but you are wearing sunscreen then a vitamin D supplement is also recommended but this applies to everybody not just vegans for me veganism is not just compassion for the animals the environment and for my health but it also means widening the circle of compassion to include friends family acquaintances and even total strangers unfortunately in the world of plant-based nutrition there can be a fair bit of criticism and judgment when it comes to the choices of others you might have heard or read somebody say well you eat fish you’re not a real vegetarian then or if you had honey then you can’t call yourself a vegan and according to the strict guidelines that might be true but I say drop the strict guidelines and just do your best I mean having plant-based foods most of the time is a clear win compared to nothing at all and if you’re somebody who is already following a plant-based lifestyle I would encourage you to share and spread the message with love answer questions openly and honestly and never judge or criticize the decisions of others just lead by example and if they feel inspired they’ll be more likely to join than if they were feeling pressured or were made to feel inadequate in some way all right so those were pickup lines top 12 tips for anybody who is transitioning to more of a plant-based lifestyle and I also have a bonus tip for anyone who might be interested you can always go to your doctor to get some blood work done before you begin and again six to twelve months down the road of course you don’t need to do this but it might help to increase your confidence and to help reassure you and your loved ones that things are going well in many cases the lab work comes back indicating no issues or in some cases certain lab values may have improved things like cholesterol which is why some people choose to follow such a lifestyle but in other cases it could come back and show a sign of deficiency and I mean that was the point right to make sure that things are going okay so no worries remember you’re in the learning stages of it all it could just mean that you overlooked a certain food items that you’re now going to start to incorporate more into your diet and if you choose not to do this as well no worries also if done correctly [UltraVid id=15 ]So, you want to go vegan or maybe you’re already vegan but you don’t feel like you’ve gotten the hang of it yet or maybe you’re thinking about it you’re not sure yet you want to learn a little bit more well in this video I’m gonna share with you all the vegan essentials you need to have a healthy happy and delicious vegan lifestyle there are a lot of different ways to eat as a vegan you can be fully raw you can be a fruitarian high carb low fat you can actually just eat Oreos and still be a vegan because they’re vegan as well but the healthiest way in the easiest way to eat is simply to eat Whole Foods vegan diet meaning you’re eating plenty of whole grains legumes fruits vegetables healthy seeds nuts and all those things and by eating that way you’ll get all the nutrients you need all the protein all the healthy fats all the fiber nutrients like minerals and vitamins and amino acids all of that and also make sure that you’re cooking at home for yourself most of the time so that you know what’s in your food and of course that will help you stay healthy one nutrient that I do recommend supplementing is b12 it’s very important for your nervous system and whether or not you’re vegan you should probably be taking a b12 supplement now there’s a lot of information about b12 so I’m gonna link to some of that below so you can learn more and figure out how much you should be taking I’m an ambassador for mega food a supplement company and I take quite a few of their supplements not on a regular basis but for example zinc this is a supplement that I take whenever I feel like I might be getting a cold or something but zinc you can also get from your food it’s just nice to have a little bit of a boost certain times of the year I also have the blood Builder supplement from mega food which is an iron Supplement now I don’t take this often because I’ve never had a deficiency with iron because I get all the iron I need from my food iron comes from greens whole grains legumes another thing that helps absorb iron is vitamin C so if you’re eating a healthy vegan diet you’re gonna get all of that however some people do need to supplement iron maybe you had a baby recently maybe you’re losing a lot of blood with your period this blood filter iron supplement is really wonderful to take and if you don’t get enough sunshine you might want to think about supplementing with vitamin D super important just make sure that the vitamin D you take is vegan another thing to keep in mind is that when you’re eating a healthy whole food vegan diet you can eat more volume than if you’re eating a standard American diet so that’s one thing a lot of people get confused about because I know we’re so often taught that if you’re gonna be healthy then we should have smaller portions of food not the case when you’re eating vegetables and fruits and all these things so make sure you eat a bounty of food eat as much as you need to feel full to feel energized because food is your fuel eat as much as you need to be alive to be happy to feel energized if you’re feeling tired if you’re feeling hungry then that probably means that you should be eating more of the good food I can’t tell you how many times someone has told me that they want to go vegan but can’t because can’t afford it or simply don’t have enough time but the truth is eating a healthy delicious colorful vegan diet does not have to be expensive and if you manage your time well it doesn’t have to take a lot of time either the essentials of a vegan diet are actually very inexpensive it’s only when you spend money on the specialty items like spirulina and maca powder and goji berries and all that that it gets crazy but you don’t need all that to be healthy it just needs the basic necessities okay but what about organic verses can if you can’t afford organic food then more power to you but it’s most important to make sure that you’re eating a vegan diet even if it’s kind of internal produce the best way to get around all this to get rid of all the confusion as long as you live in a place where you have access to it it’s the shop at a farmers market oftentimes the farmers at the farmers market can’t afford the organic USDA certification but if you talk to them and ask them is this grown-up pesticides e is x y&z on this produce then they will tell you yes or no by shopping in the farmers market you can save money and better know exactly what you’re getting planning out your meals in advance can really help you save time and money follow a meal plan so that you know what you’re gonna be eating every single day throughout the week I also like to do the meal prep at the beginning of the week so that my refrigerator is stopped I spent a little time usually about an hour and a half to two and a half hours prepping all my food for the week it’s all in the refrigerator so all I have to do is take it out when I want to eat it and my meal it’s done so much time safe that’s also a great way to save money because you’re less likely to be eating out at restaurants I have so many videos about saving time and saving money as a vegan so make sure you check those videos out as well I’m gonna link them below if you have a little bit more money but not enough time then you can always buy pre-prepped vegetables canned beans and things like that to help you save time in the kitchen one thing I love to use or mushrooms mushrooms tend to be a little pricier but cooking them is a breeze all you have to do is toss them with a little olive oil and salt and put them in the oven or do a quick saute hardly any prep work involved at first when you’re starting out it can be a challenge to do healthy and fast all together but it can be done eventually it becomes second nature the challenge is gone it’s easy and I’ve got a lot of resources to help you and I know that you can do this so if you want to eat a healthy delicious vegan diet you should make sure that your kitchen is always well stocked in your kitchen you should always keep whole grains that includes brown rice quinoa Oh Sparrow freak that also make sure you have legumes like beans lentils and peas always almost every meal I have includes whole grains and legumes in my kitchen I also always keep greens greens like kale collard greens spinach arugula there’s so many different greens in so many different ways to eat them all so you guys know I’m su potato Sol and I love sweet potatoes so I always have plenty of sweet potatoes and others starchy vegetables you can use these in almost any type of dish I also love keeping fruit in my house because it’s a super easy delicious sweet and healthy snack also nuts and seeds are great snacks and they make your meals so much tastier and add so much more texture so make sure you always have those in your kitchen too and of course when you’re putting together a meal it’s super important to have plenty of spices so I have a whole spice cabinet full of spices and I also like to make my own sauces like my dressings tomato sauces curry sauces and I always make sure they have the ingredients to make them on hand however if you don’t have time to make your own sauces make sure that you buy premade sauces at the store and keep them in your fridge or in your kitchen whole foods taste great on their own however spicing up your food is really what takes it to the next level makes it delicious makes you want to continue eating this way forever and ever now if you’re just transitioning to a vegan diet for the very time you might be craving some of your old foods or even if you haven’t started transitioning you might feel like I would go vegan but I can’t give up cheese or chicken well there are vegan alternatives for cheese and chicken and they’re super tasty the technology has come a long way you can trick people with this stuff and you can trick yourself too and you can go vegan too so make sure you try all of these delicious vegan alternatives to animal products especially if you don’t think that you can do a vegan diet because you can’t give those things up I promise you you can give those things up by eating the vegan alternative to them so I understand that in social situations it might be tricky and some people feel like I don’t know if I can go vegan because my whole family is not vegan and I don’t have any vegan friends but it is 2018 you can go vegan and your friends and family will respect you and you can live your life so say for instance you’re going out to eat with your friends or family and you guys are not going to a vegan restaurant first of all I recommend calling ahead obviously you could just look on their website first but if you don’t see anything that stands out if you call ahead oftentimes the chef will offer to make you a vegan meal it’s happened to me multiple times and that vegan meal that the chef made especially for you is usually even better than what everybody else is eating if you’re going to a social event where you’re afraid that there won’t be food say like a potluck or a party you can always bring your own food with you of course bring enough to share with everybody because once they see your vegan food they’re gonna want to try it as well I’ve been vegan for almost 7 years and I cannot tell you how much it’s changed since I first went vegan nowadays non vegans are often the first ones to want to try it your vegan dish and if you’re really going somewhere where you cannot eat anything cannot bring your own food make sure you eat ahead of and if you can’t bring your own snacks with you if you’re concerned that being vegan is gonna be difficult for you because of your cultural and traditional foods don’t worry you can actually make your traditional foods vegan so I’m from the south and I grew up eating soul food but instead of just never eating soul food again or saying that I can’t be vegan I worked to veganize all of my favorite traditional foods everything from chicken and waffles to super to the pie two pound cake I have veganized it all and you can do that from whatever culture you’re from I also really recommend looking into the history of your traditional foods a lot of our traditional foods from all around the world are plant-based in origin and it isn’t until much more recently that animal products started becoming like a big part of it traditions are always changing so it makes a lot of sense to me that you could simply take your culture back to its plant-based route I wrote a lot about this in my cookbook actually which is coming out you can order it now there are so many awesome vegan cookbooks that explore different types of cuisine so Indian vegan soul food vegan African vegan Caribbean vegan Thai vegan Chinese vegan there are also a lot of restaurants that are devoted to all different types of vegan cuisine I went to a cuban vegan restaurant the other day one of my favorite restaurants here in LA is a thai vegan restaurant there’s a an amazing ethiopian vegan restaurant here anything can be veganized in a super delicious and authentic way so don’t let that hold you back it’s also super important to make sure that you have your vegan crew your support group so I understand that a lot of people don’t have vegan friends already most of my friends and family members are vegan so it’s important to get some vegan friends in your life you can join a meetup group of course online there are so many opportunities to connect with other vegans whether it be reddit groups or Facebook or here on YouTube whatever it takes make sure you get at least one vegan friend so that you guys can be vegan buddies and support each other lastly it’s super important to remember why you started this vegan diet and also to stay motivated while you’re living this lifestyle especially at the very beginning because like once you’re a few years in like me there’s no motivation required this is just the way you live so I recommend watching movies reading books and just generally learning more about why it’s so important to be vegan why it’s important for you your health animals and also the environment I recommend things like Cal Spira see what the health which you’ve probably already seen also books like Skinny Bitch the vegan is a fro ism diet for a new people that weren’t destroying their future kind of depends on how the future ends up looking but keeping it real your life is going to change dramatically if you make this change because it’s just gonna be a thousand times more awesome I’m so cringy today so I compiled a list of the best tips that I found online and combined them with some of mine that I think are super important because I know that a lot of people make going vegan a new year’s resolution and what’s important to me is to help you do this as effectively as possible and also not struggle so that you can keep being vegan for infinity for step number one I would say sign up for the January I have the website link below because they do send you I think daily e-mails with helpful information and recipes I haven’t tried it to be honest because I was vegan a long time before I learned about be January but I know it’s been useful for a lot of people so I am definitely recommending that as the first thing you should do and also if you have a calendar make sure you mark your calendar today I’m going vegan January 1st so that you can see it it can inspire you and make you feel like you have to do it because it’s on the calendar next step is to make sure you watch documentaries like cowspiracy forks over knives Dominion earthlings definitely listen on YouTube to the speech the greatest speech you’ll ever hear by Gary Yourofsky that’s a really good one also what the health is really good and I’m just gonna link below all my favorite documentaries in order of importance to me personally so yeah if you’re gonna watch something just start from the top and then slowly keep watching more and more now look into your fridge and pantry do you have animal products in there if you live alone and you have control over all of your food I would say take that and give it away you do not want to have those foods in your home because the first month is very unstable months a lot of unpredicted things are gonna happen so it’s best to just sort of remove the temptation from your home so that you it’s so good it’s much harder for you to slip pop definitely don’t throw it away just give it to someone that’s gonna need it someone that you probably really dislike also just so maybe speeds up next I would say try and get your loved ones on board friends or family or your significant other because it is a lot easier Oh Gigi no honey no because it is a lot easier if you have help and try as much as you can to also watch the documentaries with other people because then you know they kind of also pushes them to to follow this along with you so on vegan food and living I found some really good tips one of them is to follow meal plans especially if you’re into planning your meals and just are the more organized person to be honest I’m not the type of person that would do that and that’s not how I transitioned into veganism for me I what I did if you are lazy I would say since you’re not gonna plan your meals just take your favorite meals and veganize them or take meals that are already vegan that you’ve been eating for me it was pasta and just eat more of it in the beginning another thing that I would say is make sure that you’re eating enough because especially if you’re making a switch to a hell Phoebe can diet a lot of the stuff that you’re gonna be eating it has a lot less calories than you know meat and dairy so just make sure that you’re eating enough if you feel like you’re hungry all the time or hangry all the time or not satisfied with your food it’s because you’re not eating enough so either add a little more fat in your food like healthy fats avocado extra virgin olive oil nuts seeds or increase things like protein so even more lentils eat more chickpeas because those are a little higher in calories and more satisfying so that’s my advice for that and the other thing is be open to trying new things I know that until I went vegan I honestly hadn’t even tried half the food that exists in this world meat and dairy kind of keeps our dietary preferences very narrow-minded when in reality there’s just so many different foods that we could be eating their seitan and tofu and chickpea cookie dough and banana ice cream and there’s so many different plants vegetables fruits that I wasn’t eating before and there’s just so many different and new things that I tried that I really love now and my diet is just so much more diverse and interesting so definitely don’t be afraid to try out new stuff because chances are you going to like I found this tip on self.com and it is jazz up your food with condiments and that is so true for me I think that condiments just if especially if you’re like me and you’re not really into cooking and a little bit lazy with just anything that’s kitchen related and food-related condiments are really gonna save your life so find just different vegan condiments barbecue sauce and heaney mustard just experiment with the different flavors that you like and just add those to your food to make it more exciting if you’re not really a great chef so eating at home is working at it’s going really well but the dreadful time that you have to go and eat out is approaching and you don’t know what to do so the first thing that I would recommend is either download Foursquare or happy cow or both I would recommend both because if you’re not really getting any results on Foursquare then you can check with happy cow or if you’re not getting any results with Abaco you can check with Foursquare you can use those apps to search for vegan or vegetarian restaurants or I think they also show you restaurants that have vegan and vegetarian options and then the other tip that I have to give you is to not be afraid to ask your waiter what is inside a meal or if they can veganize a meal and if you’re too shy to do that just think of this okay when you go to a restaurant you’re giving people money to make something for you to eat that’s gonna go inside your body and most of the time none of us care to ask and figure out what exactly is in this concoction that we are shoving in our mouths and putting in our bodies I mean it’s kind of crazy if you think about it I don’t know the bread could be made out of yoga mats or like the hot dog you ordered contains puppy fetus you’re never gonna know if you don’t ask so just don’t be afraid ask and ask your waiter for help to make you recognize something if there are no bacon options on the menu and honestly if the menu has zero vegan options and they can’t make anything begin just ask your friends politely can we go somewhere else it’s not such a big deal for the last tip the first month of going vegan is always more tricky and I don’t think anyone has gone vegan the first month and didn’t have some mishaps or failures at some point I know for me my first month of going vegan I did slip up a few times okay it didn’t happen again but accidents are gonna happen also be prepared for that I’ve been vegan for almost five years now genique is everything okay she’s talking to the birds and you done I’ve been vegan for almost five years now and just last month I accidentally ate something that wasn’t vegan I thought the bread was vegan it wasn’t happened stuff like that is totally normal and you should not let it bring you down at all just get back up and go back to not eating innocent animals and also not destroying the planet for future generations since meat and dairy is one of the biggest contributors to global greenhouse gas emissions so there’s that cow farts
